In July 2016, SynTao Green Finance becomes a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). The parent company of SynTao Green Finance, SynTao Co., Ltd was the first signatory to the PRI in mainland China in 2011. In 2015, SynTao separated the sustainable finance team into the subsidiary, SynTao Green Finance, which focuses on the development of green finance and responsible investment in China. By signing the PRI again, SynTao Green Finance commits to implement the six principles in its businesses, to work in the field of environmental, social and governance (ESG) integration, and to promote the concept and practice of responsible investment.
UN PRI was initiated by the then United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2006, with the aim of understanding the investment implications of ESG factors and supporting its international network of investor signatories in integrating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions. PRI now has nearly 1,500 signatories, from over 50 countries, representing US$60 trillion. Signatories include asset owners, asset managers and service providers.
